After the war, most of the city and its buildings were completely destroyed. Regional bus links are provided by the KTEL bus company and connect the city to most of Greece. Additional work was recently announced to begin in 2023 in order to connect via highway the Rion Antirrion bridge with Nafpaktos, Itea, Amfissa and Lamia.
